How to block Web Sites by IP?

I know that by using the file Hosts, i can block web sites by its DNS. How can i do the same to block web sites by IP on Windows?

You can by using a firewall.
Reply:Use the HOSTS file, it is located here:


Windows NT/2K/XP = [System root]\System32\Drivers\Etc


Windows 95/98/ME = [Drive]\Windows


The [drive] is usually drive "C:"


The [System root] is usually "C:\WinNT" or "C:\Windows"





You do it as follows:


路 Locate the HOSTS file





路 Right-click the file, select Open With鈥?br>




路 Select Notepad from the program list





路 Press OK





路 Enter the address of a website you wish to block (e.g. www.bbc.co.uk)





路 Enter 127.0.0.1 in the IP field





路 Save the HOSTS file
